Toronto, ON—April 1, 2025—Women in Film & Television – Toronto (WIFT+ Toronto) is thrilled to announce the official lineup for its highly anticipated 16th Annual Showcase. The event, taking place on May 14th, 2025 at Cineplex Scotiabank Theatre Toronto is one of the organization’s flagship events, that spotlights an inspiring and diverse array of films that push boundaries and celebrate the voices of women and non-binary filmmakers.
The eight projects selected to be part of the 2025 WIFT+ Toronto Showcase are (in alphabetical order):
Clementine – Beth Evans (Director, Producer)
Duck – Paola Contreras (Director, Writer)
A Fermenting Woman – Priscilla Galvez (Director, Producer)
His and Hers – Natalie Turcotte (Director, Writer, Animator)
My Digital Boyfriend – Lauren Eden (Director, Co-Writer, Co-Producer)
The Teacup – ZhiMin Hu (Director, Writer, Producer)
The Understudy – Genna Megaw (Producer)
The Window – Ace Kazkayasi (Director, Writer)
Every year, WIFT+ Toronto members are encouraged to submit their most recent projects across all genres. A volunteer jury, made up of industry peers and fellow WIFT+ Toronto members, select the final lineup. During this process, the jury also determines the winners for Best Writer, Best Director, and Best of Showcase.
These awards, along with the Audience Choice Award, are announced at the event. The winners of these four categories receive over $20,000 in cash and in-kind prizes, generously provided by the Foundation of WIFT+ Toronto and event sponsors and donors. A special thank you to Suzanne K. Taylor for her donation allowing us to increase the cash prizing and provide additional prizing.
