Madison Helpert awarded inaugural WIFT-T Technicolor VFX Mentorship

The Cambrian College alumna kicked off her 3-week mentorship this October, where she will be immersed in the day-to-day operations of a leading VFX house.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the WIFT-T Mentorship Program and look forward to working with Madison over the next three weeks. The Technicolor VFX Mentorship will foster her existing talents and show her how we get from script to screen, working closely with our creatives and production.”

— Kevin Chandoo, Creative Director and VFX Supervisor

Formerly announced at the 2018 Crystal Awards Gala, the Technicolor VFX Mentorship is a unique immersive opportunity for an emerging professional. From October 15 to November 1, Madison will be mentored by Technicolor team members—Robin Nozetz, Agnes Lim, Kevin Chandoo and Rachel Matchett—and learn the best practices for planning, budgeting, script breakdowns. She will participate in one-on-one meetings with Technicolor in-house producers, VFX Supervisors, and artists. Madison will also be recognized on stage at the 32nd annual WIFT-T Crystal Awards in December.

“I could not be more excited to begin the VFX Mentorship with Technicolor in participation with WIFT-T. Technicolor has an outstanding reputation and I look forward to learning the VFX production cycle through hands-on practices and the invaluable experience of being mentored by a veteran crew.”

— Madison Helpert

Madison Helpert kickstarted her career in film and television as a publicity assistant, armed with a diploma in public relations from Cambrian College (2010) and an honours bachelor degree in communications from Laurentian University (2011). Prior to moving to Toronto, Madison worked as a production assistant on television series in Sudbury, Ontario. In 2015, she became an IATSE 411 permittee member as a second assistant production coordinator. In that role, Madison has worked on productions such as Cardinal (Bell Media/eOne), Wonderful World (Disney/ABC), and Titans (Warner Brothers). She also holds production coordinator credits on Below Her Mouth (Serendipity Point Films), The Beaverton (Pier 21 Films), Workin’ Moms (CBC), and Ransom (eOne). Last year, Madison began her journey as a VFX coordinator, building her experience on The Boys (Amazon), Magnesium (Sinking Ship), and Umbrella Academy (Netflix). Madison aspires to build a lasting career in VFX as a production manager and producer. We are confident in her ability to realize this goal and excel at it.
