The Foundation for WIFT+ Toronto Stories
-
“As an Indigenous writer and producer, I believe our stories are on the threshold of breaking through the collective conscious on a massive scale, and I’m very grateful to be part of this wave that’s made stronger by opportunities like [WIFT's] BANFF scholarship. I’m excited for the incredible opportunity to access influential people from around the world who are at BANFF specifically looking for new types of stories and partnerships. I also look forward to filling my creative cup listening to brave and ground-breaking speakers, meeting creative people from different backgrounds and countries, and building my support network ”
-Carla Robinson, President, Wassum Productions, Recipient of the WIFT+ Banff Scholarship
-
“...with all the knowledge our team has gained through WIFT+ by attending workshops and boot camps, we've received early development funding from Ontario Create IPF. Thank you for giving me the chance to make a dream come true."
-- Khalilah Brooks, Producer and Creator
-
“My experience as a woman of colour who is passionate about pursuing a C-suite career, this organization was a true lifeline. I received access to top-notch training and skilled professional resources that would have otherwise been out of reach. The quality of the educational learning programs are exceptional. WIFT+ dedication to fostering inclusion and providing practical, firsthand experience was evident in every aspect of the curriculum. From workshops led by industry professionals to networking events and mentorship opportunities, I felt equipped with the knowledge and confidence needed to succeed in the competitive world of Film and Television.”
-Sharon Hinds - Former WIFT+ Toronto Board Member, and Manager, Rogers Sports & Media, ALL IN
-
“As a director who loves sci-fi, I was very curious about the role of the visual effects in film and how to speak their language. Thank you WIFT for awarding me the mentorship at one of the busiest VFX houses in Toronto (and LA and Copenhagen) - Ghost VFX. This was a perfect end of the year gift of knowledge. .”
-Nika Belianina- Director, Photographer, and WIFT+ Member
