NEW!! This program is designed to aid participants - whether they are beginning their career or looking for their next executive position - in preparing for a job search!

Through practical instruction and discussion led by an HR expert, participants will learn how to improve their presence in the labour market and set themselves up for success whether they are entering the job market (Session #1) or leveraging experience to propel themselves upwards (Session #2).

Each session will be followed by a networking gathering.

This program is being delivered in person only.

ELIGIBILITY FOR PROGRAM

This program is intended for anyone who is looking to "up their game" in their job search and to propel themselves forward in their career.

 

SESSIONS & INSTRUCTORS

After completing their session, participants will understand how to:

  • Advocate clearly and decisively for themselves to promote themselves for potential work opportunities through resumes and interviews
  • Recognize and put into practice good negotiating skills
  • Thrive in a networking situation

The topics for both sessions are as follows:

  1. Writing an appropriate resume/application submission to promote yourself accurately and efficiently through both content and format. This discussion will include how resumes and applications are reviewed by HR personnel as well as software programs used in the process.
  2. Steps to prepare for interviews (including but not limited to company research, understanding the position, and preparing answers to potential ques4ons as well as having questions to ask, and how to follow up after the interview).
  3. The power of networking and building rela4onships before, during and after your job search.

INSTRUCTOR: Erin Haig - Senior Director, Talent Management & Organizational Development 

In her role as Senior Director Talent Management and Organizational Development Erin provides strategic input into existing and new global talent management and organizational development initiatives at Blue Ant Media.  She works with leaders and employees to develop tailored programs to their unique needs.  

Erin has broad human resources experience in Media, Automotive and Finance from leading day-to-day human resources operations to designing, developing and implementing talent development programs. 

Erin holds a Honours Masters Degree (M.A) from the University of Glasgow and Honours, Post-Graduate Human Resources Certificate from Humber College, is a Chartered Human Resources Leader (C.H.R.L) and a certified Leadership and Performance coach. She has been on Humber College’s BComm. Human Resources Program Advisory Committee since 2012.
