Andrea Scott Awarded the 2025 Melissa Crozier Writers Bursary

 

Women in Film & Television – Toronto (WIFT+ Toronto) is thrilled to announce that Andrea Scott is the inaugural recipient of the Melissa Crozier Writers Bursary.

Andrea Scott has been a screenwriter since 2018. She won the Magee Diversity Screenwriter’s Award for her first script, ‘Dust to Dust’ with Marsha Greene as her mentor and her dark comedy, ‘Bad Habits’, landed her a job in ‘The Porter’ (BET/CBC) writer’s room. She worked on 3 seasons of Murdoch Mysteries and was a writer on ABC Signature’ ‘High Potential’ before moving back to Canada in 2024.

This bursary offered annually over the next three years, established in partnership with Techno Medic Ltd. in memory of Melissa Crozier, the company’s founder, provides a full scholarship to participate in our Second Draft: Screenwriting for TV Series program, a flagship four-day professional development program from WIFT+ Toronto, that will take place from September 16 – October 7, 2025. This Program is Presented by Neshama Entertainment.

In addition to full tuition for the program, Scott will receive A $500 honorarium, A TIFF Industry Membership, A one-year WIFT+ Toronto membership, Two tickets to the WIFT+ Toronto Reception@TIFF, and A one-year Final Draft license.

Techno Medic Ltd. is an organization founded by Melissa Crozier that provides professional on-set medics, water rescue teams, lifeguards, and firefighters to film productions and the broader entertainment industry.In addition, Techno Medic Ltd. offers Rapid Antigen Covid testing, Covid PAs, Coordinators, along with the medical supplies needed throughout the production period. Techno Medic has worked with companies that include; Radke, Soft Citizen, Alfredo Productions, Skin and Bones, Merchant, EP Partners, Scouts Honour, Suveena, Zero Point Zero, and Disney.
