Job Description

Are you a communicator who is a whiz with the written word and social media? Would you like to make your mark on our communications and engagement strategies? Then join WIFT+ Toronto as our Communications and Social Media Coordinator. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment and to flex your well-developed coordination, written, organizational, creative-thinking, and people skills.

 The Communications and Social Media Coordinator is responsible for writing copy for all areas of WIFT+ Toronto (including but not limited to annual reports, newsletters, website copy, and solicitation letters), creating press releases and social media posts, providing analytics and creating communication plans, and aiding the team at our events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and execute Social Media plans throughout the year including copy and graphics using Canva Pro.
  • Monitor, edit and update website to ensure all content is up to date, our language is inclusive and aligns with our branding
  • Update our accessibility plan and ensure WIFT+ Toronto’s social media and website are accessible to all based on direction from Manager and/or Executive Director.
  • Liaise with community partners/sponsors/ and members to share news on our various channels.
  • Create social media packages to share with sponsors and partners.
  • Compile regular analytics reports; with recommendations and steps for improvement.
  • Attend WIFT+ Toronto events (Member events, WIFT+ Showcase, AGM, reception during the Toronto International Film Festival, Crystal Awards Gala) and provide support
  • Write and distribute media releases (on website and publication)
  • Coordinate, write, and send our bi-monthly Newsletter.
  • Generate and manage media interactions; act as first point of contact for all media inquiries while tracking coverage.
  • Write and edit communications around WIFT+ Toronto programming, membership, events, fundraising, and news, Including but not limited to talking points, scripts, targeted fundraising emails, external marketing emails, renewal campaigns, bios, boilerplates, and decks.
  • Aid in the creation of our yearly reports including the WIFT+ Toronto Annual Report.
  • Maintain and track testimonials.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in digital marketing, advertising, project management, coordination, or similar  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize successfully and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Professional applications 
  • Minimum of 2 years in the Canadian screen-based media industry (including freelance work) 
  • Experience with Canva or similar design tools
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and within a team environment with tight timelines 
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends

Assets

  • Knowledge of and passion for the Canadian screen-based media industry
  • Experience working in a non-profit organization
  • An interest in WIFT+ Toronto’s mandate
