We’re excited to announce the seven projects selected for the 9th Annual WIFT-T Showcase. We hope to see you on April 17th at TIFF Bell Lightbox as we celebrate the creativity, diversity, and talent of our members.

Discounted early-bird tickets will be on sale from March 21 to April 4. Regular ticket sales will be available April 5-16, or while quantities last. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Each year, WIFT-T members are invited to submit short projects (documentary, narrative and experimental films; television and digital/web series episodes; and music videos for consideration. All submissions are reviewed and selected by a committee of WIFT-T members.

Jessica, Jessica | Fiction

Jessica, Jessica is the story of two friends in their mid to late 30’s who aren’t married, who aren’t mothers, who aren’t failures, and are both named Jessica.

Martin’s Hagge | Fiction

Martin, plagued by Hagge, his physical creation of anxiety, is nudged from his melancholy by a spunky but wise co-worker.

ROPEd | Fiction

Based on Margaret Atwood’s poem, Half-hanged Mary, and on true events in 1685, ROPEd is the heroic tale of Mary Webster, a healer and landowner, who is confronted by her Puritan neighbours with accusations of witchcraft. Mary is not one to go down without a fight. Now, with all her strength and spirit, she will fight for her very life.

Confident, but often misinformed, Rakhee is just trying to get it right. Small situations spiral out of control as she navigates friendships, feminism, and identity in this offbeat series set in Toronto.

Opening the doors to Toronto’s oldest cross-dressing stores, viewers get a glimpse into the colourful lives of its customers and their tender relationships with the eccentric storeowner, revealing the vital role the store continues to play in Toronto’s cross-dressing community.
