WIFT-T Career Transition Program

The WIFT-T Career Transition Program is the first program developed for mid-to senior-level professionals coping with the technological, economic, and structural changes in the screen-based industry. The program will enhance participants’ ability to find suitable work, and facilitate their career transition within and outside film, television, and other screen-based media.

WIFT-T Feature Film Writing Workshop Part One: Emerging

WIFT-T Development Incubator

The WIFT-T Development Incubator is an initiative designed to develop market-driven feature films and support the next generation of Canadian feature film professionals. This initiative will provide five emerging and intermediate producer and writer teams, who have feature length dramatic projects in development, with the opportunity to work with consultants and select industry advisors in a series of small group sessions.

WIFT-T Business Management for Media Professionals | Emerging Technologies

The WIFT-T Business Management for Media Professionals Program is a compilation of six modules, each consisting of three Saturday sessions. It is recommended for working professionals with up to three years experience in the industry, related university or college training and for those transitioning to a new area of the business.

This certificate program is presented in partnership with Canwest.

Astral Media Mentorship Award

The Astral Media Mentorship Award is a national competitive program that gives one talented Canadian female or male producer who is a visible minority, Aboriginal or is disabled, the invaluable opportunity to prepare for the 2008 Banff World Television Festival through a festival bursary and an intensive five day pre-festival mentorship with WIFT-T, other industry experts, and an Astral Media executive.

Imarion Post Production Mentorship Award

The Imarion Post Production Mentorship Award is a national initiative that provides one Canadian female filmmaker with the invaluable opportunity to access post production services at Imarion to complete a feature length documentary. WIFT-T will mentor the successful applicant to prepare for the 2009 Hot Docs Canadian international film festival, followed by an intensive mentorship with a post production supervisor.

FITC Toronto 2009
A Design & Technology Event

Now in its 8th year, FITC Toronto is one of the longest running and largest events of its kind in the world. Special Lecture: A Thousand Lives: The Legends of the Golconda Mines Presentation by Jessica Ruby Bent

The exalted diamond mines of the Golconda region in India have produced many of the world’s famous, and infamous, diamonds. The first historic source of this most precious of gems, India was the sole bearer of diamond rough for thousands of years, up to the 17th century. Many of the Golconda diamonds carry fascinating tales of mystery and romance, travelling through exotic lands and touching many people’s lives. Explore some of history’s most illustrious diamonds, such as the Hope, Koh-i-Noor and the Idol’s Eye, and take a glamorous journey through history.

Special Lecture: 'Walking in Renaissance Venice'
Presentation by Dr. Filippo de Vivo, University of London (UK)

Join Dr. De Vivo as he recreates the experience of walking through a colourful multicultural city of Venice during the Renaissance period. Learn about the main centres of attraction in the city, the places where people went to in order to carry out different activities, from buying their groceries to exchanging gossip, to finding out about the latest news. The lecture will discuss means of transportation, as well as the layout of Venice's special walking spaces: canalsides, bridges, ferry-stops, shopping alleys and porches. Dr. De Vivo will also discuss how this information can be recreated by sources from the time such as spiy reports and pilgrims and travellers' accounts.
