WIFT-T Programs

2009 WIFT-T Convergent Media Program | Begins Thursday

The WIFT-T Convergent Media Program is essential for those who want to understand the transition from conventional to digital media. Through eight sessions, participants learn how to translate film or television projects to digital platforms while remaining focused on monetization. Participants gain insight into Canadian audiences and the technologies that facilitate consumption. The program also incorporates a collaborative project where group members develop a cross-platform idea from concept to pitch. There is one bursary available for this program.

Business Management for Media Professionals | Financing Film & Television Production

The WIFT-T Business Management for Media Professionals Program is a compilation of six courses, each consisting of three Saturday classes. It is recommended for working professionals with up to three years experience in the industry, related university or college training, and for those transitioning to a new area of the business. Participants who complete all courses receive a certificate from Humber School of Media Studies and Information Technology.

WIFT-T Women Writers Workshop | Deadline for Treatments Extended

The WIFT-T Women Writers Workshop is for intermediate women screenwriters who want to develop treatments or drafts in an intimate environment, supported by other female feature film writers. Applicants must submit a detailed treatment or first draft by October 9, 2009 by 5 PM and must be working toward a feature film script. Read More

2010 WIFT-T Media Leadership Program | Reduced Fees, More Bursaries

The WIFT-T Media Leadership Program is designed for mid to senior level women and men who want leading-edge academic knowledge and contemporary business and leadership skills required in the Canadian screen-based industry. Participants who complete the program receive a certificate from the Schulich School of Business, York University. Read More

Registration is limited to 20 participants. The deadline for applications is December 14, 2009. Program fees have been reduced significantly and bursaries are available through the Foundation for Women in Film & Television. Read More

8th Annual Female Eye Film Festival

The Female Eye Film Festival is offering WIFT-T members a $5 discount on submissions to the 8th Annual Female Eye Film Festival. The deadline for submissions has been extended to October 31, 2009. The regular fee is $65 for all categories, with the exception of the Best Film Awards which are $100.

CSC Lighting Workshop

The Canadian Society of Cinematographers (CSC) is offering WIFT-T members a discounted registration fee for the CSC Lighting Workshop. This two day workshop explores the basics of lighting: three-point lighting, light meters, theory, and more. Participants also learn how to create various lighting effects through demonstrations. George Willis, one of Canada's top commercial cinematographers, will demonstrate lighting for short or long format film-making. The workshop is intended for those who have a good knowledge of basic concepts. Participants are encouraged to bring a light meter for the practical exercises. Read More

SHORTSNONSTOP is a year-round, digital film festival showcasing short films produced for mobile and online platforms. The running time of submissions cannot exceed three minutes. The top prize is $1500.

WSFF | Call for Submissions
Now in its 16th year, CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival (WSFF) is the premier venue for the exhibition and promotion of short film in North America. The WSFF offers one of the largest prize packages for short film in the world, presenting over $60,000 in cash and prizes. The festival runs June 1-6, 2010.
