Join WIFT-T and Women Entrepreneurs of Canada (WEC) for a free information and networking event and learn why making the right “ask” is essential to achieving your career goals. Making the Ask, teaches women three key components of making the right ask. Participants will learn to identify what to ask for, who to ask, and gain tips for building confidence to make the ask. As participants reflect on what they want to gain from their businesses, they will also become comfortable with asking for what they need.

Astral Media Mentorship Award Winner: Bobie Taffe
Women in Film & Television – Toronto (WIFT-T), is pleased to announce Bobie Taffe as the winner of the Astral Media Mentorship Award.
The Astral Media Mentorship Award is a national competitive program that gives one talented Canadian female or male producer who is a visible minority, Aboriginal or is disabled, the invaluable opportunity to prepare for the 2009 Banff World Television Festival through a festival bursary and an intensive five day pre-festival mentorship with WIFT-T, other industry experts, and an Astral Media executive.
The Astral Media Mentorship Awards is presented in partnership with Astral Media.
“Bobie Taffe is at the perfect stage of her career for this opportunity," said Sadia Zaman, Executive Director of WIFT-T. "For us at WIFT-T, it’s very satisfying to provide such a strong mentorship program; we simply could not do this without Astral’s support!"

WIFT-T Announces the WIFT-T Development Incubator Participants
Women in Film & Television - Toronto (WIFT-T) is pleased to announce the 2009 WIFT-T Development Incubator participants. This initiative gives five writer/producer teams the opportunity to work with script consultants and select industry advisors to develop their feature length dramatic projects.
The WIFT-T Development Incubator is designed to develop market-driven feature films and support the next generation of Canadian feature film professionals.
"People from across the country submit applications for the WIFT-T Development Incubator," said Sadia Zaman, Executive Director of WIFT-T. “The opportunity to work on a feature script in such a focused, collaborative environment is unique, and we’re thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity for this year’s talented group. Many of the participants from the program also move on to the next critical creative stage, and their work gets noticed. Congratulations to this year’s participants.”

The WIFT-T Business Management for Media Professionals Program is a compilation of six modules, each consisting of three Saturday sessions. It is recommended for working professionals with up to three years experience in the industry, related university or college training and for those transitioning to a new area of the business.

WIFT-T members are invited to participate in the New York Women in Film & Television/Hamptons International Film Festival short series, To The Point: Women Telling Stories Through Media.
The Series provides a unique platform for WIFT members to showcase their talents in areas of shorts, composed fictional narratives, animation, documentaries, and experimental films that bring an unorthodox and original perspective to the experiences of women from all walks of life from around the world.
There is no fee to submit, films must be under 20 minutes and completed between June 30, 2006 to June 30, 2009.
