MENTORSHIP AWARD

Tecca Crosby
Independent Production Executive

Tecca Crosby began her career at Saturday Night magazine where she worked as the assistant to Robert Fulford, then as head researcher and from 1983 until 1986 as associate editor. She went to the newly formed Ontario Film Development Corporation in 1986 as the senior development officer where she helped to draft the original guidelines and fund the development of a myriad of projects including feature films, made for TV movies and documentaries. She moved into the post of Executive Coordinator, Production and Development in April 1992 until July 1995. During that time, Tecca had direct responsibility for feature film and television production investments that included such titles as La Florida, Million Dollar Babies, Champagne Safari, Exotica, When Night is Falling, Lillies, Soul Survivor and Dance Me Outside.  

From 1995 until 1998, Tecca acted as a freelance production consultant. She was a story editor in residence at the Canadian Film Centre and together with Allan Magee and Kathyrn Emslie helped establish the Professional Screenwriting Programme. She also worked as a script consultant for a variety of independent production companies. She helped to create Slings and Arrows with Susan Coyne and enlisted Rhombus Media as her co-production partner.

In April, 1998, Tecca went to work in the dramatic programming department at CTV. She supervised CTV's development slate for original Canadian drama and worked as a production executive on a variety of award-winning MOWs and television series that included: Power Play, Cold Squad, Degrassi: The Next Generation, The Eleventh Hour, Milgaard, Lucky Girl, Torso, Tagged: The Jonathan Wamback Story, The Life, the Investigation, Lives of the Saints, Plague City: SARS in Toronto, Terry, The Man Who Lost Himself, Hunt for Justice: The Louise Arbour Story, and In God's Country. From December 2000 until July 2006 she served as Director, Dramatic Programming and from July 2006 until September 2007 as Acting Senior Vice President of Dramatic Programming at CTV. Tecca is currently an independent production executive.
