2012 Crystal Awards Nomination Deadline

Established in 1988, WIFT-T’s annual Crystal Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of Canadian women and men in screen-based media—film, television and digital media. Each winter, the inspirational luncheon ceremony brings together industry, government and media from across the country in downtown Toronto to honour and recognize Canadian excellence.

Now Accepting Nominations

2012 marks the Crystal Awards’ 25th anniversary year! WIFT-T is calling upon its members to nominate exceptional leaders, with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in film, television and/or digital media, in the following categories:

Creative Excellence Award click for nomination form
Awarded to a woman in recognition of the creative excellence and dynamic quality of her work in screen-based media (film, television and/or digital media). The recipient’s recent work has received national and/or international attention in the previous year and has established a standard for those working in screen-based media.

Mentorship Award click for nomination form
Awarded to a woman or man who has made an outstanding contribution to building women’s careers in screen-based media (film, television and/or digital media). The mentor supports the advancement of women, offers guidance and support, and/or assists female entrepreneurs in growing their own media companies.

Outstanding Achievement Award click for nomination form
Awarded to a woman who has made a major contribution to screen-based media (film, television and/or digital media) through the consistent quality of her work throughout her career. Through personal example and leadership, she has inspired and set standards for women and men working in the screen-based industry.

Please note the International Achievement Award and Special Jury Award of Distinction are awarded periodically at the discretion of the jury.

Awards Selection Procedure

Crystal Award winners are selected by an independent jury of past award recipients and other industry representatives. The WIFT-T Executive Director moderates the process but does not vote. In any category where there may be a conflict of interest, or a perception of a conflict with any member of the jury, that juror refrains from voting in the category. The 2012 Crystal Award winners will be announced in September. Tickets go on sale at that time.
