Contributing to corporate governance is a rewarding career advancement step and increases recognition of your impact in your area of expertise. Data from Frame Work II shows that in broadcasting, 50% of surveyed firms indicated that they have no representation of women at the board or ownership level. Similarly, 90% of firms had neither Aboriginal people nor persons with disabilities at the board/ownership level. None of the broadcasters surveyed had visible minority representation at the board or ownership level. Deborah Gillis of Catalyst will speak about the some of the issues surrounding women and boards and offer insight on the initiatives and tools that can help to increase women’s representation in corporate governance.
