TIFF Nexus: Women in Film, Games & New Media

In partnership with TIFF Nexus, WIFT-T is pleased to present Women in Film, Games and New Media, a one-day conference exploring gaming, digital media and film with an emphasis on creative opportunities and analysis of sectoral gaps.
The jam-packed day includes presentations, discussions and interactive sessions ranging from an introduction to emerging technologies, to industry workforce insights, to videogame demos and focused networking opportunities with creative industry leaders.
Hosted by Nora Young
Nora Young is the host and creator of Spark, a show about technology and culture that airs nationally on CBC Radio. She was the founding host of Definitely Not the Opera, where she discussed topics related to new media and technology. As a writer and speaker, Nora explores how new technology shapes the way we understand ourselves, each other, and the world around us.

The conference will present the results of The Difference Engine game-making incubator—TIFF Nexus creative sessions that encouraged women from various media sectors to experiment with videogame design. Games produced through The Difference Engine will be available for hands-on play during a networking reception following the presentation.
