Anne-Marie Mediwake
News Anchor and Co-Host
CBC News Toronto
Anne-Marie Mediwake is the co-host of CBC News Toronto, weeknights on CBC Television. This year, she was named the GTA’s Woman of the Year at the Consumer’s Choice Awards in recognition of her commitment to journalistic excellence and active community involvement.
Anne-Marie’s portfolio includes prominent roles in CBC’s local, national and international news coverage—from Jack Layton’s state funeral to The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
In 2004, she hosted Sri Lanka A Journey Home, a network news documentary that gave Canadians unprecedented access to the devastation in her birth country after the tsunami, including a rare interview with Tamil Tiger second-in-command S.P. Tamilselvan.
Prior to CBC, Anne-Marie was co-anchor of Global Television’s Toronto newscast; helmed CTV’s acclaimed investigative current affairs show 21C; and reported for CTV’s National News with Lloyd Robertson, Canada AM and Newsnet.
Anne-Marie’s desire to give a voice and provide mentorship to young women is reflected in her active community outreach. She attributes her natural curiosity and passion for storytelling to her Scottish-Sri Lankan ancestry.
