WIFT-T & CBC team up for 2011 TIFF bash

Celebrating the art of sound in film, television and new media  

WIFT-T is pleased to announce its partnership with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) for WIFT-T’s annual reception during the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

The much-anticipated event will take place the evening of Wednesday September 14 at Pinewood Toronto Studios, Toronto’s premier production facility. Themed “The Art of Sound,” the event will honour the creative application of all aspects of sound in screen-based media works through live musical performances and interactive stations.

“WIFT-T is thrilled to collaborate with the CBC on this TIFF-related event,” says Heather Webb, Executive Director. “With our public broadcaster celebrating its 75th anniversary this fall, it’s the perfect time to raise a glass to Canada’s talented screen-based media professionals—both in front of and behind the cameras.”

WIFT-T’s annual reception during TIFF is designed to celebrate the spirit and creativity of Toronto’s screen-based media community. Close to 800 guests are anticipated to attend, including WIFT-T members and partners, visiting filmmakers, and CBC personalities.

“Celebrating with WIFT during the Toronto Film Festival demonstrates the incredible contribution Canadians are making to film, television and the broadcast industry,” says Kirstine Stewart, Executive Vice President, English Services, CBC. “We are delighted to partner with WIFT for this important annual event.”

The by-invitation-only affair will also feature a silent auction in support of the Foundation for Women in Film & Television – Toronto.
