About  |  Support the Foundation  |  Donors

Through bursaries, the Foundation provides professional development opportunities to: members of groups that are underrepresented in screen-based media, women with limited financial means, and women with limited access to training in Canada’s screen-based media industry.

Bursaries are not possible without the financial support of corporate, foundation and individual donors. We are happy to discuss various options for developing a bursary for one of our programs. Bursary contributions start at $1,000.

Testimonials

[The WIFT Development Incubator] was an incredibly beneficial experience for Teri and I, and we feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to participate. The workshop was first class in terms of its presenters, content, and overall organization. I truly feel that our experience was exactly what we needed at this stage in our careers to elevate us to the next level. It really couldn’t have come at better time for us! Read more.

Thank you for the bursary which allowed me to take the Convergent Media Program. The workshop has not only been inspirational, but invaluable. The knowledge I have gained about APPS, User-Generated Media, and how to create, fund and use web possibilities has made me a more competitive filmmaker. Thank you again for this incredible opportunity.

The Convergent Media Program has allowed me to broaden my horizons and to continue to tell a story, an Indigenous story, on multiple platforms. I walk away with the knowledge of how to reach a wide and diverse audience.

I am extremely happy to participate in the Convergent Media Program thanks to the bursary offered by WIFT-TORONTO. Although I have been working in the Canadian television industry for the past 25 years, and am quite dexterous at the new HD technology, the constantly evolving digital platforms represent a paradigm shift in the financing and distribution of our work. This opportunity—which has come in a difficult year for my company—has renewed my strategy and inspired me to re-think how I approach financing, marketing and distribution. Bravo for this initiative!

The CMP is a unique opportunity to network and learn about new technologies and trends in the industry. Legal expert Stohn Hay answered many of my questions about intellectual property. Working in a team, I learned how to present my project to showcase its strengths. I’m very appreciative for the opportunity to participate in this terrific program.

I absolutely appreciate that I was granted not only the opportunity to attend [the Career Transition Program] and learn so much, but also that I was the recipient of a bursary that enabled me to even take the course. I have definitely grown from this course. I learned so much about the industry, where it is heading, and also about myself and how to better market my abilities. I have gained an inner confidence.
