Foundation Seats for Broadcast Students
Being a woman in film and television can be both scary and exciting. Scary to know that this industry is very male driven, and exciting because of the passion and love involved. However, when I had the opportunity to attend the WIFT Crystal Awards on December 6, I was uplifted by the courageous, strong willed, hardworking women and all of my fears subsided. Something within me stood up and told myself “You can do this. No matter what!” This burst of encouragement and strength has been given to me by you, Gail Asper, and your generous support of my WIFT Crystal Awards ticket. Thank you.
I have had my doubts about entering the film and television industry. Things can sometimes be discouraging and the bumps in the road can get you down. But because of your generosity, I have been inspired and recharged to take on whatever may come my way. I can confidently say that I am on the right path. These words cannot thank you enough, but please know that your contribution has not gone unnoticed.

In 2010, The Gail Asper Family Foundation donated four Foundation Seats at the Crystal Awards Gala Luncheon for post-secondary students (male or female, members or non-members) with a broadcast studies major. The first four students who responded and met the requirements received the tickets. Those students were:
Hope Nicholson, York University
Erica Umansky, University of Western Ontario
Cassandra DePetrillo, Humber College
Daisy Ranger, Humber College
As Foundation guests, students enjoyed premier seating, express check-in, complimentary coat check, a gourmet lunch and the opportunity to network with some of Canada’s leading industry professionals.
The gala proved to be a uniquely inspirational affair, and WIFT-T would like to thank The Gail Asper Family Foundation for providing this incredible opportunity.
