Building a Foundation for Women in Screen-Based Media
Last year, the Foundation awarded 17 bursaries to women who are underrepresented in the screen-based sector—Aboriginal and culturally-diverse women, women with disabilities, and women with limited financial means—giving them access to valuable educational programs and industry networks.
“I am extremely happy to participate in the Convergent Media Program thanks to the bursary offered by WIFT-Toronto… This opportunity—which has come in a difficult year for my company—has renewed my strategy and inspired me to re-think how I approach financing, marketing and distribution. Bravo for this initiative!”

2010 marked the first time that the Foundation for Women in Film & Television – Toronto was chosen as the charity of choice for a memorial bursary gift.
The Janet Crystal Yorga Memorial Bursary enabled a team of two to participate in the 2011 WIFT-T Development Incubator program. A sincere thank you to the donor family for their meaningful contribution. Also in 2010, the Foundation sold a record-breaking five Foundation Tables and 19 Foundation Seats at the Crystal Awards Gala Luncheon—our biggest fundraising event of the year. Thank you to all those who purchased Foundation Tables and Seats.
A contribution from the Gail Asper Family Foundation provided four broadcast students with the unique opportunity to attend the 2010 Crystal Awards as Foundation guests.
