Fundamentals of Media Business Administration: Industry Overview is designed to introduce emerging media professionals to the business fundamentals of the film and television industry. Participants learn about the business environment and the nature of the Canadian media industry.
The course introduces and develops core concepts, including:
- Financing
- Rights acquisition (including digital rights)
- Organizational structures
- Project management
- Marketing
- Emerging technologies
Participants emerge with a stronger understanding of the who, what, why and how of the Canadian industry in a global context.
The WIFT-T Business Management for Media Professionals Program (BMMP) is a compilation of six courses, each consisting of three Saturday classes. It is recommended for working professionals with up to three years experience in the industry, related university or college training, and for those transitioning to a new area of the business. Participants who complete all courses receive a certificate from Humber School of Media Studies and Information Technology.
It is recommended that all six courses be taken, however participants have the option to take single courses or take the program over two full cycles to complete all six courses. Participants intending to complete the certificate must have no more than two absences in all six courses (18 classes). Click here for more information.
