This course builds on the foundation created in Fundamentals of Media Business Administration. The course focuses on the value of ‘rights’ and how these are exploited commercially by various partnerships. Participants learn about public, private, and alternate financing options, as well as the negotiation of broadcast and distribution agreements. Downstream and alternate revenue streams based on exploitation of various rights, including digital rights, are also explored along with basic principles of contract, partnership, intellectual property, copyright law, and the need for expert support in these areas.
