Christa SingerAn award-winning producer and director of film and television, Christa Singer has worked primarily on compelling documentary films and series of social import. As an independent producer, she made the critically-acclaimed documentary, Wisdom of the Heart: Women and Heart Disease, which earned multiple festival awards. She directed her most recent film, Samuel Bak: Painter of Questions, which tells the artist’s story of surviving the Holocaust and explores the questions he raises through his paintings.

 As Series Producer for Sleeping Giant Productions, Christa worked on thought-provoking documentary series, including Marking: an Anthology of Ideas, and the multi-award-winning educational resource, Death: a Personal Understanding. During her 24 years at TVO, Christa was instrumental in establishing weekly series and won awards for producing social documentaries, such as Sharp and Terrible Eyes, Full of Sounds and Fury: Living with Schizophrenia, and Toronto: Struggle for Neighbourhood.

Christa’s illustrious career began with the outset of CBC Television, where she worked in the current affairs department as a script assistant, researcher, and field producer. Christa considers herself privileged to have worked cooperatively with others throughout her career, and attributes enormous personal benefit to the talents, energy, and enthusiasm of the many young women with whom she has collaborated.
