WIFT-T Diversity Charter
Drawing upon its 25 years of experience as an advocate for the advancement of women in the screen-based industry, WIFT-T is well positioned to become the model for diversity and inclusion of Aboriginal women, women with disabilities, and women of colour.
The WIFT-T Diversity Charter has been framed as an affirmation of diversity within six key organizational functions.
1. Leadership
Leaders validate diversity within the organization by setting standards and holding everyone accountable for success. The board and senior staff shall develop and enhance the skills and knowledge necessary to execute policies that make the organization culturally competent.
2. Programs/Services
WIFT-T shall ensure that programs and services reflect both the needs of WIFT-T’s increasingly diverse membership and its competency with diversity and inclusion.
WIFT-T believes in the principle of fair and equal access, both physical and financial, and shall ensure all programs and events are physically accessible. We look forward to achieving full accessibility to all WIFT-T’s work spaces, programs and services through a multi-phased plan for accessibility. To the best of our resources, we will also endeavour to make our programs financially accessible.
WIFT-T believes that recognizing success encourages future success and shall look for opportunities to recognize those organizations who have been most successful in providing opportunities for Aboriginal women, women with disabilities, and women of colour.
3. Marketing and Communications
WIFT-T shall ensure parity of access in all outreach, including marketing and communications materials.
4. Recruitment, Hiring and Contracting
In hiring staff and suppliers, WIFT-T shall adopt the best available practices and policies for inclusion.
5. The Workplace Environment
WIFT-T supports an inclusive and diverse environment and recognizes that the diversity of its staff brings value to the organization, and therefore, WIFT-T endeavours to create a work culture that maximizes diversity.
6. Community Connectedness
WIFT-T recognizes the importance of staying connected to its increasingly diverse constituents and shall seek out strategic community partnerships.
